Character
Name: Akihiko Sanada
Fandom: Persona 3
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Time Period: Persona 4 Arena, after jumping into the TV world
Wing Color: Cream white
History: Akihiko on the Megami Tensei wiki
Personality:
(Note: Though he is taken from Persona 4 Arena, which canonly follows Persona 3, some information is taken from Persona 3 Portable, where Akihiko's personality, likes, and dislikes are fleshed out more.)
On the surface, Akihiko comes across cool, confident, and self-assured, especially amongst his peers while he was back in high school. Even though he is an intense and determined fighter, he does not throw himself into every dangerous situation without a thought; he is much more likely to push himself too hard without reminders of his own limits, and Mitsuru provided those reminders when he was injured by at the beginning of the Persona 3 in-game events. Like the other main protagonists in Persona 3, he is a Persona-user, which allows him to manifest a physical embodiment of his inner strength.
Fighting and training are overwhelming parts of Akihiko's life; the events of Persona 4 Arena show Akihiko training abroad and getting into scuffles in South America prior to being contacted by Mitsuru, and even in high school he was well-respected as a boxer (captain of the boxing club and a champion) and constantly finding opportunities to train his body. He has a strong desire to grow stronger because of his past: As a child, he and his younger sister, Miki, were left as orphans for a long time. Just before he was adopted into a wealthy family, Akihiko lost his sister in an accident that involved a fire. He was only nine at the time. The loss of his sister effectively shaped his life, as he committed himself to growing stronger to protect those he cared about.
This desire to grow strong also has its dark side; while Akihiko pursued strength deal with his loss, he also perpetually blamed himself for what happened to Miki and thought he had to atone for the weakness he had as a child by continually growing stronger. This very personal side of himself is what shapes his Shadow -- the physical manifestation of his repressed emotions and feelings. During the events of Persona 4 Arena, his insecurity in being able to protect others is hammered upon during the P-1 Grand Prix, attempting to revert his Persona back into its more malevolent Shadow state. However, by then he had a very strong resolve and was able to shake off the mental assault.
His strong resolve was not just fueled by Miki's death. During the time he spent in the orphanage, Akihiko also met Shinjiro Aragaki, who would be his best friend growing up. After Miki died, Akihiko and Shinjiro remained friends all the way into high school. When Mitsuru approached Akihiko about Personas, Shadows, and joining SEES (the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad), he also had Shinjiro join with him. Though their friendship was strained by a SEES mission and Shinjiro left, the two boys continued being friends up until Shinjiro died protecting Ken Amada, a fellow member of SEES. Shinjiro's death brought Akihiko back face to face with his own weakness and repressed guilt, and he dealt with his best friend's death better by facing his own faults and the single-mindedness of his obsession with power. He recognized that his focus had fooled him into thinking that power would allow him to protect everyone he cared about, and Shinji's death was a reminder to scale back his perspective. He resolved to continue moving forward and do his best to protect others, even when the odds seemed insurmountable. This caused his Persona to ascend to a more powerful form.
Away from the battlefield and his personal tragedies, Akihiko is a kind and generally considerate person, if a little ... oblivious to the romantic feelings of girls; in high school, he had a number of fans and still did not seem to understand that the majority of them wanted to flirt with or date him. He does not like rumors and does his best to dispel them when he can, such as when he hears the female protagonist (in Persona 3 Portable) is dating Junpei; he is conscientious of how people perceive him, as he was called strange when he was younger because he was an orphan. He is big brotherly to the younger members of SEES, stern and serious when he needs to be but able to crack jokes with Junpei on occasion as well. He shows a fondness for children, seeing a loud child's tantrum as energetic whereas others would be bothered. He loves getting big meals, especially when they involve meat; this love of meat and protein is so prominent that it earns him the skewed title of the Two-Fisted Protein Junkie in the P-1 Grand Prix. While he does not dislike sweets, he does not eat them often, as he confesses when he's standing with the female protagonist outside a sweets shop.
While he tends to be quiet and somewhat aloof, Akihiko can also be visibly emotional, especially in private; when confronted with Shinjiro's death, he hits the memorial display and falls to his knees in tears, and becomes visibly distraught (biting his lip in distress and with a tremulous voice) when he finds himself thinking deeply about Miki. At his core, he is a kind and caring young man who has grown stronger through his tragedies, always carrying those lost close to his heart in order to fuel his resolve.
Strengths:
Physical: Akihiko is physically fit and very sturdy when it comes to melee combat; the large scars on his body are testaments to the things he has lived through following his decision to journey abroad. His reflexes are impressive; he has honed his skills so well that he can read when an opponent has fired a gun and dodge out of the way.
His Persona, Caesar, can strike with the large sword it bears; however, Caesar mainly enhances Akihiko's strength by providing him with "magic" skills and an immunity to electrical attacks. Caesar's skills give him a great number of electrical attacks at his disposal, even allowing him to bestow his own punches with an electrical effect. Caesar also has skills that can debilitate opponents and heal Akihiko.
Mental and Emotional: While Akihiko is rather obsessive in his approach towards fighting and training, he is not a slouch intellectually; he received good grades while in school and continued into college, though he eventually decided to leave to focus on training in other parts of the world. He has a great amount of determination that pushes him forward even when he is injured, shown in how he managed to escape an Arcana Shadow and push himself towards the safety of the dorms even with an injuries that would keep him on the sidelines for over two weeks.
Having faced his weakness so that his Persona gave rise to a new form, Akihiko knows himself better and perceives his goals better than he did back before his final year of high school. He shows a great deal of maturity and level-headedness as well, likely as a result of the things he has gone through in his youth.
Weaknesses:
Physical: Even though he is physically fit and given advantages by his Persona, Akihiko is still human; he will bleed when cut, bruise when hit hard, and be crushed if an elephant falls on him. Since he prefers to fight up close, he may have disadvantages against long-range opponents, though he tries to compensate for those differences. His endurance, while impressive, is also still not overtly superhuman, as he can grow tired while going on jogs and winded while keeping up with Koromaru.
Mental and Emotional: While he has an ascended Persona, meaning he has tamed his Shadow and grown its strength, the fact remains that the feelings that created that Shadow remain very real and a part of Akihiko; he has just learned to accept those weaknesses. He still succumbs to the self-doubtful feelings of being weak and obsesses with needing to grow stronger. There are still moments of self-hatred and wondering why Miki had to die. Those parts will always be there, as both a weakness and a strength.
His determination can also be seen as stubbornness, and dangerous if not kept in check. His desire to meet new fighting challenges head-on can also be dangerous, as he may enter situations that he cannot handle without bodily harm; the sheer size of the scars on his body speak to a situation that could have been incredibly dangerous to a Persona-less person.

He did not notice the New Feather peeking at him from the other side of the room. This was not surprising, as he was in the process of ordering his meal at the time. Then he had to browse the menu again to plan on what kind of diet regimen he could maintain with the food available; the portion sizes looked somewhat on the small side, so he'd have to order two entrees on his harder days and probably grab a protein drink after his evening cool down...
When the New Feather showed up at his table with a shy smile, he blinked up at the girl. She asked his name with a faint stutter, which he gave with just a little thought; she was about his age, so maybe she just thought it would be nice to meet someone close to her own age. She asked what he was doing, and he explained that he was waiting for a special meal. When she tilted her head, Akihiko proceeded to go into great detail about the beef bowl he has specified, drenched in a sauce made from the drippings of the beef. There was a certain passion in his voice, a small smile on his lips, and he could not help but voice his hope that it would be similar to beef bowls back home. He had just returned to Japan, after all, and had not had a chance to get one before being brought into Luceti.
By the time he finished, the girl was quiet and his food was on its way. A sigh escaped him as he sat up straight, preparing himself for the meal. That succulent aroma, that caramalized sheen on the seared beef, that sauce that seemed like a decent imitation of the real stuff...
The girl shifted from foot to foot, her wings twitching a bit as she excused herself with a flustered murmur. Akihiko tilted his head after her, frowning thoughtfully as he turned the bowl so he had easy access to the rice underneath.
Maybe he should have asked if she wanted a bowl for herself.
